Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Indianapolis

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) has been shown to help patients with hair loss stimulate hair growth by causing the follicles to become healthier and larger, producing more hair growth and healthier and thicker looking hair. PRP triggers the body’s own hair growth process and scalp health. This procedure is performed in our Carmel and Greenwood offices.

What is the process?

The Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) procedure is performed in the doctor’s office as an outpatient procedure that is quick and only takes about an hour. It is minimally invasive, so the patient will not experience discomfort and doesn’t require downtime.

PRP treatment involves drawing the patient’s own blood, then that sample is spun in a centrifuge to isolate the plasma that is enriched with growth factors. This plasma is then injected into the areas of hair loss or where the hair is the thinnest. This is done to stimulate blood flow in the area and increase the availability of cell nutrients to promote hair growth. You may see results in 90 days, but it could take up to a year for the full results.

Why use PRP?

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) can be used to promote hair growth and can be effective for both men and women. A patient can choose to do just PRP as a single treatment option for hair loss, or it can be safely combined with hair transplantations, low-level laser therapy, or other hair loss treatment options.

This treatment uses platelet-rich plasma (PRP) from your own blood, which contains a high concentrate of growth factors, to stimulate the hair follicle for new hair growth, as well as prevent further hair loss.
