Hair loss can occur from a wide variety of causes

Published on January 16, 2018

Hair loss can occur from a wide variety of causes. The number one cause of hair loss is our genetics- something we cannot change, but sometimes can modify how this occurs (think Propecia). Other causes include trauma, infections and autoimmune responses. One treatable and less recognized cause of hair loss is the medications we take. These can be associated with hair loss and stopping them may help reverse what has occurred.

There are several categories of medications that can lead to hair loss- click here for a complete list. If you are experiencing hair loss and on one of these medications, consult with your physician to see if there are alternatives.

Finding the cause of hair loss can be challenging as can the treatment. Determining that a medication is causing your hair loss can be an easy source for correction.
